Recently the technology firm Ubisoft confirmed a cybersecurity incident that caused a temporary interruption in some games, systems and services. The video game developer, based in France, ensures that this incident does not involve the exposure or theft of user information.

Ubisoft’s security teams are working with external cybersecurity specialists to investigate the situation and implement appropriate security measures. These security measures include resetting passwords for all Ubisoft employees. The affected services and games are already up and running.

Reports indicate that the hacking group Lapsus$, operating from Latin America, could be behind this incident, as this malicious operation has been very active for the past few weeks. A few days ago, hackers claimed responsibility for the attack on NVIDIA detected in February, which would have compromised even ITB of the company’s data.

“We are aware that these hackers took employee passwords and certain intellectual property information from NVIDIA, which was exposed online,” a statement from the chipmaker said.

In a Telegram group allegedly operated by this hacker group, it is mentioned that the leaks occurred because the company refused to negotiate with Lapsus$. In addition, hackers claim that more leaks are coming, involving other tech companies around the world.

In December 2021, Ubisoft said that a cyberattack against the computer infrastructure of the just Dance video game had been detected, which at the time was described as an incorrect configuration that had been resolved.
